Why The Disney Riddles became Walt’s Riddles.

August 14, 2025. If you’ve been following my work for a while, you might have noticed something different about my debut thriller. The book that many of you first discovered as The Disney Riddles now has a new name: Walt’s Riddles.

I wanted to take a moment to explain why I made this change—because it’s not about rewriting history, but about protecting the future of the book and the series.

The Story Behind the Switch

When I first released The Disney Riddles, I was thrilled (and a little nervous) to put my story out into the world. It quickly found an audience—mystery lovers, history buffs, and thriller fans who enjoyed the mix of fact and fiction.

However, as any author who writes about real people or well-known brands
will tell you, certain words and names are protected by trademark law. “Disney” is one of the most famous trademarks in the world, and while my book is a work of fiction with no official connection to the company, the title alone could unintentionally create the impression of an endorsement or affiliation.

This posed a legal risk… not just for me, but for the long-term availability of the book on platforms like Amazon.

Why Not Just Change the Cover?

Some readers have asked: “Couldn’t you just redesign the cover and keep the title?”

Unfortunately, it’s not that simple. The title still appears in search results, metadata, and on the book’s product page. Even without Disney-style imagery, the use of the name could still be flagged. Changing the cover wouldn’t remove that risk… it would just make it less obvious on first glance.

The New Title: Walt’s Riddles

I wanted a title that still captured the heart of the story… a web of cryptic riddles tied to an iconic visionary… while steering clear of trademark issues.

Walt’s Riddles keeps the intrigue, mystery, and historical flavor of the original, but it’s legally safer and gives the book a fresh identity as it moves forward in the Lacie Webb Thriller Series.

What’s Different in the Second Edition?

Not much.  Other than the title and the cover, the book is the same.

Thank You for Your Support

Changing a title is never an easy decision, especially when so many of
you loved the original. But my goal is to ensure that this story—and the series—can be enjoyed for years to come without running into legal roadblocks.

Whether you read it under its old name or discover it now as Walt’s Riddles, I’m grateful for every reader who takes this journey with Lacie Webb.
